The explanatory video for CLIB Cluster Industrielle Biotechnologie e.V. captures the core of the BIOPEN platform, which is an EU-funded project that simplifies networking and financing for research work in biotechnology. The cooperation was fruitful, professional and relaxed and there were never any misunderstandings. Monira supported me in the preproduction.
When designing, great attention was paid to a balance in gender issues, without wanting to appear exaggerating. There is a female protagonist and a female speaker in a male-dominated research area. As it was an EU funded project, we decided on a voice artist with a distinct, understandable British accent. The video was made before Brexit.
The team quickly fell in love with a soundtrack by Dave Hilowitz, a great composer who was difficult to contact. After several weeks of unsuccessful contacts via e-mail, a music platform, Xing and LinkedIn to clarify usage rights, I finally reached him via good old Facebook.
